WSHU Donor Forever Tied to Public Radio

Kathy Koslow

Kathy Koslow is a longtime WSHU listener and supporter.

For many fans of public radio, the features they value most are the high-quality news and unbiased reporting. For WSHU board member Kathy Koslow, a dedicated listener since she moved to the area in 1986, public radio does indeed represent those things—but also something more.

“For me, it’s more emotional,” Kathy says. “I’ve been through a lot of life since ’86…. WSHU has always been there. It’s the one thing in my life that hasn’t changed.”

Kathy has relied on public radio through tragedy and joy, throughout her career as a marriage and family therapist and through raising her four children, whose childhood soundtrack was WSHU. They remain fans of public radio in California, Massachusetts, New York and Vermont.

Though she’s been a supporter since day one, she took her giving to the next level about seven years ago. She joined the development committee and served as co-chair of the first-ever capital campaign to secure a more modern workspace for WSHU.

In addition to her capital campaign leadership, Kathy found a creative way to make an even more generous gift: paying a small premium for a life insurance policy she no longer needed and naming WSHU as the beneficiary.

“It makes me feel wonderful” to be able to support public radio in several different ways, Kathy says. “It makes me feel like, if and when my children come back here in 30 years, this programming is going to be there.”
